Wild, overwhelming, yet incredibly beautiful, the mountains of South Tyrol – especially the Dolomites – are the dream of every nature lover. The wonderful feeling that the mountains induce enters the soul and fills it with passion, awe and fascination. While for some the aim is to conquer the peaks, for others it is to explore the charming pastures, meadows, woods and valleys on foot.

What is it that you love? Use your holiday with us to discover and enjoy your favourite outdoor passions, or fill your days with totally new experiences. The PA principle… PA for positive attitude, one that lets you can find fulfilling activities at any time of year, whatever the weather.

The Hotel Krone organises weekly guided walks and will be pleased to provide information on various outdoor activities.

A passion for climbing

Climbing in the world’s most spectacular mountains – the Dolomites, a UNESCO world heritage site – offers a wide variety of routes for progressively more exciting adventures, as well as unique views of idyllic landscapes. Climbing walls also offer beginners challenging rock formations and vertical perspectives that ensure flawless technique and ability.

And if the weather plays up – no problem. Just 300 metres from the hotel is the “Vertical Brixen” climbing centre with its large range of interesting boulder walls of all degrees of difficulty. The training centre is located by the “Acquarena” pool complex and forms an impressive architectural attraction.

We will be happy to inform you about the finest high-level tours and fixed rope routes nearby. And don’t forget: the BrixenCard lets you get there by bus or train – for free.

A passion for jogging and hiking

Out into the fresh air! It not only does you good, it frees the mind! Just a few minutes from the Hotel Krone is the jogging path, almost 20 km long, stretching north to Neustift and south to the town of Klausen.

You can go even higher, into the uplands and right up to the high mountains among the rock and ice. There are well-signposted hiking trails starting from the hotel: we even have hiking maps, tour guides, rucksacks and Nordic walking poles for hire if you haven’t brought them with you.

In the summer months we organise weekly guided walks to the loveliest spots around Brixen. Please enquire about our all-inclusive hiking packages and don’t forget: the BrixenCard, included in your room price, lets you reach your destinations by bus or train – for free.

Family passions

WoodyWalk è sinonimo di gite in montagna con tutta la famiglia. Divertimento assicurato per grandi e piccini!

Si sale a 2046 m con la cabinovia della Plose fino a Valcroce, perno dell’area escursionistica della Plose, da dove parte un affascinante circuito lungo 4 km con un dislivello di appena 100 m che negli ultimi anni è diventato un’attrattiva di prim’ordine: la WoodyWalk, ovvero il percorso che porta al rifugio Rossalm.

Lungo il sentiero si susseguono molte stazioni attraenti che creano varietà e invitano a giocare e riposarsi, come ad esempio il lago dei campanelli, il telefono nel bosco, un enorme albero d’arrampicata trainato da buoi, il trono girevole Putia, un percorso Kneipp in grado di rinfrescare piedi piccoli e grandi, maxi-sdraio in cui schiacciare un fantastico pisolino di fronte a un imponente “cinema naturale” ... e tanto altro ancora.

Il circuito, percorribile anche con i passeggini, offre una vista incomparabile sul gruppo dolomitico… e dopo 2 km, arrivati al rifugio Rossalm, troverete non solo “pane per i vostri denti”, ma anche un enorme parco giochi che attende solo di essere conquistato.

E tenete presente che con la BrixenCard inclusa nel prezzo della vostra camera potrete raggiungere qualsiasi punto di partenza in autobus o in treno senza spendere un soldo!

A passion for fishing

Of course, if your passion is for fishing, you will bring it with you on holiday. Avid fishermen can obtain day passes from us for the fishing waters in the Brixen area, for example the Mühlbach and Franzensfeste reservoirs or the natural lake at Vahrn, together with the relevant conditions. The Untersee fishing lake in Vahrn is especially popular with sports and hobby fishermen: no fishing licence is required and you can even hire rods and bait. Good fishing!

A passion for swimming

Leap into the water, have fun… just submerge and get away from it all for a few hours. The Acquarena, one of the finest indoor and outdoor pool complexes in the Alpine region, is only a few steps away from the hotel and offers plenty of enjoyment in the water, 365 days a year.

The indoor area features an 8-lane sports pool and offers swimming courses, water gymnastics and diving. The leisure area offers a fun pool, a slide, a counter-current channel, massage loungers and hot tubs. The true highlight, however, is the salt-enriched outdoor pool, approximately 200 m² in size. The open-air pool, surrounded by a large park and three additional fun and swimming pools, is open in the summer months, affording beautiful views of our local mountain, the Plose, and the towers of the old town.

Our guests enjoy unlimited daily free admission to the Acquarena.

A passion for hunting

Discover the natural surroundings in their entirety, treating them with understanding and respect. Discover the forest in all its quietness, the first sunbeams, the morning dew... all alone. Sharpen your senses, observe the wild animals.

At the Hotel Krone hunting is a family tradition and appreciative handling of the kill is an ethical imperative. During the hunting season, therefore, local game dishes will also appear on the nenue.

“Climbing involves a certain element of risk, just like every other action sport. The aim is to ensure the maximum degree of safety. Start slowly and make sure that you are fully fit and your gear is all in working order!”

Hiking should be

uncomplicated and rewarding.

“As long as I can remember I have been out and about in the forests, on hiking trails and up mountain paths. I know ways and places that can’t be found on any map and, probably for that very reason, these are some of my favourite routes. I am always delighted when my guests enjoy these experiences as much as I do.”

“A psychological dilemma? Hardly – you can do both perfectly well at the same time ! Some people go to therapy sessions – I go fishing! And if after three beers I still haven’t caught anything – so what!?”
