SUED-Sustainable-Level-1_RGB_RThe Sustainability Label South Tyrol is based on the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), which were developed to provide a uniform understanding of sustainable tourism. These criteria can be divided into four different areas: Management, Socio-economy, Culture and Ecology. The sustainability label enables destinations and accommodation/gastronomy businesses to make their commitment to sustainable development visible to all. Because sustainability is a long-term path, there are three levels of the label, which are checked by an audit. For each level, different criteria have to be fulfilled, whereby the third and highest level corresponds to the GSTC certification and is thus internationally recognized..

Alex is a cycling fan through and through – and the Krone is also a cycling hotel through and through. We offer a fantastic starting point for biking through the Eisack Valley holiday region, several guided tours a week, a bike room with a small repair shop, a place for washing bikes, the latest bikes of all types for hire, digital and analogue tours – personally tested and put together by Alex – as well as books, magazines and information about bikes, partnerships with specialist bike shops, luggage transport and more besides! Alex is definitely your man for any questions or discussions about biking!

Officially the oldest town in Tyrol, the Bishops’ City of Bressanone is a cultural gem with numerous imposing buildings and an impressive history. Worthy of mention are the Cathedral with its cloister and the newly designed Cathedral Square, the Parish Church, the Millennium Column, the Gothic Town Hall, the Hofburg (Bishops’) Palace and the Diocesan Museum. And Bressanone also does modern! There are plenty of cultural and other events, from sports to rock music, from humorous to serious, that will get locals and visitors alike up and off their sofas. A particular highlight is the Decadenz Theatre in Stufels, the oldest part of the city. Strolling through the city also reveals a host of cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants. And then there are all those boutiques and shops…!
Alex and his team at reception know their city like the back of their hand... so let them share some tips with you!
The Krone is a lively place, right in the midst of the pedestrianised area. And so is our bar, which is open to the public from 7:00am until 11:00pm. Come and have a look – it's always the right time for a drink!
Eat, sleep, repeat! Food is served all day long at the Krone – in the following order…

served daily in our restaurant, from 7:00am for early birds until 10:30am for late risers, with sweet and savoury items, light bites and hearty fare, from morning classics to the latest trends. Breakfast is in all cases a high-quality affair, where possible using regional, seasonal and – last but not least – tasty produce!

Neapolitan pizza: In the evenings from 6.30pm to 10pm, we serve pizza! Not the usual variety that you generally find on menus in these parts either: Our pizza is the stuff of legend, as is the great Neapolitan art of the “pizzaiuolo”. Only the very best of ingredients are good enough. Three cheers for fresh, seasonal produce! And, let us not forget the immense passion which our "Pizzaiuolo" infuses into the fragrance, the colour and the tastes, bringing them together as a masterful composition atop the round dough. You have to try it to believe it!

Dinner: our restaurant is open in the evenings from 6:30 to 9:00. Diners may choose from the à la carte menu with a weekly set menu featuring seasonal dishes complemented by daily changing specials.
Where possible we try to incorporate local produce into our cooking: such treats include game and wild herbs and plants from our natural surroundings, where Alex regularly spends his time as a modern-day hunter-gatherer. The Krone’s classics are also highly popular, for example our deliciously simple (and simply delicious) pasta dishes, or our Krone burger, made from locally reared beef.
Calling all fans of winter sports! The Plose ski resort, on the sunny mountain slopes above Brixen, is some 11 kilometres away and offers 43 km of pistes, 10 lifts, the famous Trametsch piste – at 9 km the longest downhill run in South Tyrol – a ski school & ski hire, a ski kindergarten and a halfpipe. The Gitschberg-Jochtal ski area is also just 15 kilometres away, with its 50 km of pistes, ski schools, kids' parks with full-day care and two snowparks.
You may leave your equipment in our sports room. There is a ski shuttle as needed – fee payable depending on distance.
There are numerous opportunities for tobogganing, cross-country skiing, winter walks, snowshoe excursions and ski touring in the vicinity. Just ask at reception!
Bressanone’s Christmas market is held just a few metres from the Hotel and attracts thousands of visitors each year. The other towns and villages of South Tyrol also have plenty to offer at Christmas. We will be pleased to advise you personally at reception on the best markets, the best mulled wine, the real hotspots and even offer you one or two insider tips.
Do you want to give the gift of a break, a wellness experience or a meal at the Krone? Tasteful vouchers are available at any time from reception!
Not only does Alex have cycling in his blood, but also practically anything that can be done in the great outdoors, high up in the mountains or deep in the forest. He is a qualified hiking guide and knows all the best trails and tours... just ask him! In the lobby you can find maps, books and tips for tours, while we also loan out rucksacks and Nordic walking poles. The hotel and the tourism office also regularly offer guided walks that you are welcome to take part in. Current events are listed in the Krone’s weekly programme. You can also leave your equipment and hiking boots in our sports room.
For climbing fans there is a climbing wall just 300 metres away that offers the following facilities: climbing events, 950 m² indoor lead climbing area, 250 m² outdoor lead climbing area, 400 m² bouldering area, 1600 m² total climbing area, training areas, self-belay devices, campus board, stick board and system board.
Alex also knows where to go fishing in the immediate vicinity: suitable places include the Franzensfeste reservoir, the Mühlbach reservoir, the Vahrn Lake and the Untersee in Vahrn.

Above the rooftops of Brixen, our rooftop wellness area is located on the fifth floor and is a genuine oasis of tranquillity. It consists of a conservatory with panoramic views, saunas and relaxation areas. Our massages and beauty treatments are especially popular for relaxing after an action-packed day or for achieving that perfect (holiday) look.
Opening hours: daily from 9:00am to 9:00pm. The sauna and steam bath are open from 4:00pm, or even earlier on rainy days or on request…
Bathrobes can be hired at €5 per person. Guests booking treatments in our wellness area receive a bathrobe free of charge for the duration of their stay. Treatments are offered every day except Sunday.
Please do not wear outdoor shoes in the wellness area and ensure silence in this place of relaxation!

The Krone of course keeps up with the times! Free, fast wireless internet is available throughout the hotel.
We would ask you to vacate your room, wide awake and refreshed, by 11:00am on your day of departure. We will be pleased to check you out officially on the eve of your departure so you can beat the queue the following morning – which after all represents the last hours of your holiday…
Settling your bill: cash is always welcome! But we of course accept other payment methods, e.g. bank transfer (for deposits), Bancomat, EC Card, MasterCard, Visa and American Express. And if none of these work, our chef is always happy to have a helping hand in the kitchen!
A tourist tax of € 2.30 per person per night is levied by the Province of South Tyrol on all guests aged 14 years and over. This tax is not included in the total price of your stay and is payable in the hotel upon departure.
I’m so excited that you are coming to visit us!
